26th April 2024

Another week crossed off the calendar - a very busy week. We celebrated Earth Day, St George's Day, Forest School, French, Pantomimus, Show and Tell, outdoor learning, indoor learning, daily reading, daily Maths, daily Phonics, writing, cheese and crackers, we even welcomed frogspawn into our daily learning - we can't wait to watch them develop and grow....our list goes on and on......but we are sure some children still come home and say they have done nothing all day!!!!

Let's dive straight in with Forest School!

We had so much fun, we got wet, we got muddy, we explored, we laughed, we loved it- we were simply doing what all 4 and 5 year olds do best we were learning through exploration and play!

Next week, can we ask that Forest School clothes come to school in carrier bags and not PE kit bags - we do get rather muddy and it seems such a shame to spoil our lovely PE bags, we think a carrier bag is perhaps better.

Monday was also Earth Day 2024 - this year we decided to plant sunflower seeds in bio degradable newspaper pots. We made the pots using the pot maker and have now planted them in our outdoor area along the fence. We are keeping our fingers crossed that they will soon grow and we will have a lovely 'sunflower wall' for all to admire - watch this space.

Then Tuesday it was St. George's Day and we were ready to learn all about St. George and how he slayed the dragon. Robins, you certainly marked the day in your knight and princess outfits and we loved seeing all the horses, lions and dragons too!

Part of our Science learning this term is the life cycle of the frog. Huge thank you to Frankie and Gracie who kindly brought in some frogspawn so that we can see first hand exactly what frogspawn looks like. We will be watching it very closely over the next few weeks as we learn and understand more about the life cycle of a frog. I have to say, every morning the children have been really keen to get outside and check on the frogspawn. One or two have already hatched into tadpoles - very exciting!

And we finished off the week with cheese and crackers - fantastic!

Have a great weekend and see you all on Monday!
