This week has raced by! The children have created beautiful water colour paintings of poppies which they shared during our Remembrance Service. We also explored a quote from For The Fallen by Laurence Binyon.

'They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them'

School Leaders

We were very pleased and proud to announce the new roles in Collective Worship on Monday afternoon. Congratulation to all of Red Kites. House captains, Shadow House Captains and Vision Leaders started the week leading their first house meetings on Tuesday. The sessions brought out a real sense of belonging throughout the school. The children in Red Kites were excited to support the younger children. Reading Champions did an excellent job this week going round each classroom and looking at reading spaces. They also gathered pupil voice on reading spaces within the school. We are really looking forward to developing all of these roles this year.

English and Maths

Ask your children about this vocabulary:

Maths: tenths, hundredths, thousandths

English: premonition, gloat, brine, calamity, beseech, implore

In English we have continued looking at persuasion this week through our class text: The Adventures of Odysseus. The children have written some excellent persuasive speeches in role of Odysseus. They have explored using powerful language, modal verbs and rhetorical questions to convince and persuade.

In maths we have continued working on our mental strategies to add and subtract decimals through our understanding of place value including decimals. The children have really enjoyed Supermovers and visual starters this week to warm their brains up.

Please keep practising times tables and KIRF facts at home

The children are learning so much about Gods and Goddesses through Greek Myths in Reading and writing lessons however this week, we looked into Gods and Goddesses in our history lesson. Ask your child to recall as many Gods and Goddesses as they can!
