TERM 6 WEEK 2
FOREST SCHOOL
LIBRARY BOOKS
SHOW AND TELL (if it is your turn)
these are the reminders for Monday
Another jam packed week has flown by.
They came in through the gate on Monday - it was a wet morning so they came straight into class - so far so good. Tuesday they came in, straight onto the playground - again, so far so good. After we had taken the morning register I 'checked in' with the Robins just to see if any of them had felt nervous or anxious with the change of routine. "It was amazing" "It was so good" " We get an extra play now" - well they could have dialled down the positivity to spare my feelings!!!! They are all so 'grown up' and independent and feel 10 feet tall - exactly as they should feel, they are doing so well.
On Monday, we had the usual Phonics and Maths in the morning, we are really seeing and hearing the progress in their reading now and we know they are reading at home too - keep it up everyone.
On Monday afternoon we had our usual Show and Tell - this week we were joined by Elsa and Ana - lots of discussions and questions followed.
We also had Mystery Reader...on a Monday - yes that threw us all! We all thoroughly enjoyed the lively book session - it was hard to decide who enjoyed it the most - Mum or us!
Tuesday we were back on our balance bikes - I am starting to notice some 'risky moves' as we become more confident - some of us when looking for shade or to feel the wind on our faces have decided to free wheel down the grass bank - my heart was in my mouth and yet they were in complete control and loving life!
Welly walk on Wednesday saw us head up the hill - we were amazed at the change of the land - just a week or two ago the crops were almost as tall as us and this week, they had all been cut down!
On Thursday we thought about repeating patterns. We had a look at some patterns that had already been made and described them. Then we had a go at making some ourselves. The children did very well!
Also, this week we continued to think about collage. We have started making a whole class collage of a garden. The children had some lovely ideas for what they wanted in the garden. There were butterflies, trees and hedgehogs. We are going to carry on with it next week as the children were enjoying it so much!
Friday, we started our learning about the lifecycle of the butterfly and of course, we can't teach about the lifecycle without showing them first hand - yes we have our own caterpillars in class. We will be watching their transformations over the next few weeks - so exciting.
The children have named the caterpillars. They are called....wait for it....we have not gone for the 'typical' caterpillar names, instead we now have Rose, Michael-Leigh, Betty and Nitro - who knows what goes through the minds of 4 and 5 year olds!!!!!
Have a great weekend and see you all on Monday morning.
