TERM 5 WEEK 3
We are already half way through this term - time, please slow down you are going way too fast!
This week we continued with our Maths and Phonics - every day we use the knowledge and skills that we learn and apply them to a range of situations. When we are out welly walking, we are trying our best to read road sign, we are counting things that we see and using the language of 'altogether'. It just brings all our learning together.
In Maths we were still thinking about capacity. We went outside and compared how much water different containers could hold. The tallest container didn't always hold the most water. There were some excellent reasoning skills using words such as "wide". If your children are playing with water at home, maybe you could talk with them about the capacity of different containers. How many cups fill this container? It is always important that we fill our smaller "cup" or container right up to the top before we pour it into a bigger container.
This week in RE we were making our own stained glass windows - so far they are looking pretty good and the children are extremely proud of them. Next week we will head to the Church to take a closer look at their stained glass windows.
Of course, we had another very interesting talk during Show and Tell, this week we heard all about some magnets that were bought during a visit to the Living Rainforest in Thatcham, and we had our Mystery Reader session too - I am thoroughly enjoying the 'pressure' that your children are putting on you to be the next Mystery Reader - isn't it just great to see them so enthused about reading!
Another highlight of the week (and for Jesse, possibly the highlight of the year, he has been asking every day since last Wednesday when are we going to see the lambs, he couldn't wait) came on Wednesday when we headed up to the farm to see the lambs. It was not just Jesse who was excited - they all were and they were all an absolute delight, they were so well behaved, so interested and so engaged. It was an absolute pleasure to see them having so much fun in the most beautiful of environments. We saw lambs, chickens, eggs, horses and sheep! Huge thank you to Mrs Liddiard for inviting us.
Have a wonderful bank holiday weekend - and see you all on Tuesday (don't forget library books!)
