TERM 2 WEEK 2
Another busy week unfolded as we were 'Living Life in all its fullness'
We started with Odd sock day on Monday. Our day started off in its usual way - fine motor, mark making, drawing. We then settled straight into our letter formation, followed by Poetry basket (we learn a new poem every week), followed by Phonics. At 10.15 it was time for worship with Year 1 and Year 2. It was only then that we realised that wearing different socks had made absolutely no difference to anything we had been doing, nobody had felt any different, our learning had carried on in the same way, we had chatted and laughed and apart from wearing odd socks everything was the same - therefore, we came to the conclusion that being different makes no difference at all - we are all unique and we are all special and we are all different - and it just works!
Tuesday, really encompassed our Christian value of Compassion and allowed us to take a moment to reflect. As a whole school community, we gathered together to observe a two minute silence, one of our pupils in Owls led us in this moment by playing the Last Post. Throughout the day we took time to reflect and discuss further when creating poppies of our own.
On Thursday the whole school celebrated Michael Rosen poetry day, author of "We're Going On A Bear Hunt". The children listened to the poem "I Am Hungry" by Michael Rosen. This is a poem about all sorts of sensible and silly things that a squirrel could eat because he is so hungry. The children then created their own poems by talking about sensible and silly foods, for example, a chocolate cake and a wheelbarrow! They then drew their pictures for their poem. Have a look at the photographs to see their lovely ideas. Which poem did your child create? Can they remember?
Then on Friday, it was Children in Need and we were 'decorating' Pudsey Bear with our pennies....on they went one by one until Pudsey was 'fully dressed'. Thank you so much for all your generous donations.
So what better way to end our very busy week than with a snack and some cutting skills - chopping soft fruits, spreading butter and enjoying all our efforts.
Have a great weekend and see you all on Monday.
