TERM 1 WEEK 3
Have you ever had a loom band ‘ping’ out of your fingers? Well this week most of our EYFS Robins have experienced just that. Our fine motor activity this week involved stretching the loom band across the geoboard pegs. Most loom bands stayed on the board with only the odd one or two flying across the classroom (followed by lots of giggles).
Despite only being a few weeks into the term, we are really starting to fill our days with lots of exciting new learning - after all our school vision statement is "Living Life In All Its Fullness" and the Robins are doing just that! Already we are having daily Maths and Phonics lessons, we have French, Music, Worship, PSHE, PE, Art and an awful lot of rich, engaging play opportunities. Next week we will begin our RE learning and our library sessions.
In Phonics, we have been learning sounds - s,a,t,i,p,n,m,d,g,o and next week we will be moving onto c,k,ck,e,u,r. We will also be inviting you to our Phonics workshop on Tuesday 7th October 3.20 onwards - more information on this will come out to you next week.
In Maths we have been finding matching pairs – pairs everywhere!
On Tuesday we were back outside for our PE lesson, exploring our new equipment.
On Thursday the children continued developing their skills of using a paintbrush. We went over how we have to hold the brush and how important it is to clean the brush when changing between different colours. The children painted leaves in different colours on their autumn trees that they started last week. The were also keen to have a go at painting their own pictures of whatever they wanted so they had the opportunity to do this as well.
Also this week, we had our first 'House Meeting', we headed off into different classrooms, depending on where our House were gathered, Watermill (Green), Arlington (Red) or to Anvil (Purple). Our brief was to welcome new members and get to know each other and to design and create a House team display. We don't want to reveal too much as it is still a work in progress - all I can say is watch this space as soon as the displays are up in school, we will do a 'big reveal' right here! This is just a little taster of what Watermill got up to....
