Haven’t we been lucky with the weather?! Finally, some sunshine!

In English this week, our focus was writing informal blogs. This can be a very hard text type to write because of how different it is compared to our usual style of writing. We explored the vocabulary and the features before practicing writing direct and reported speech. Today we put all our learning together to write our final blog. In Maths, we have been rounding decimals to whole numbers and one decimal place. Circling and underlining the digits helped us to make the appropriate changes to our number. Towards the end of the week, we switched to perimeter and area. Quite easy concepts but prone to little mistakes when calculating. This learning will continue next week.

In RE, we discussed wisdom and what that means. The children spoke about worldly wisdom and biblical wisdom. They then drew representations of them. In History, we explored why the Romans actually left Britain. We found out about the Scots and the Picts and other tribes within Britain. This leads nicely into the Anglo-Saxons coming. In Science, we started to look at Earth and our Solar System; the children used computers to find out about the 8 planets that orbit the Sun.

The highlight of the week definitely has to be our Holi celebration on Tuesday! The children loved learning the traditional dances and then performing them on the playground. Then we all had a blast throwing the coloured powder paint at each other.

Next week, WORLD BOOK DAY! We are looking forward to completing some amazing activities.

Have a great weekend.
