What a lovely sunny week!

We’ve had another busy sporting week; cross country and girls’ rugby. The children all enjoyed the different opportunities and behaved extremely well. Well done to the children who completed the cross country course - I know they put in their best efforts. And the girls worked so well as a team in the rugby; only losing out to first place by one try!

In English, we have started to learn about explanation texts. We have focused on their features and started to practice writing introductions and the body of the text using our specific tools: causal conjunctions, fronted adverbials and complex sentences. Some of the work produced was amazing! Next week, we will start to plan our own explanation text and write them. We’ve also had some great opportunities to write in our ‘free write’ books, where the children can write whatever they like to show off their skills and tools. In Maths, we completed our assessments. Everybody worked so hard to show me what they can do. Next week we are looking at multiplying and dividing decimals, as well as percentages.

In Science, we explored the objects that orbit the Earth – we found out about artificial and natural satellites. In History, we recapped our learning about the 7 kingdoms of Anglo-Saxon Britain and then found out that two of the kingdoms became more powerful. We discussed why this was – good trading links, more land and strong leaders. In RE, we looked at the Qur’an and its purpose. We then looked at some quotes and discussed what they were trying to teach us. In PSHE, our conversations centred around bad substances such as tobacco and alcohol. We looked at some of the side effects they have on our body and how old you need to be to buy and use them. In PE, we continued to learn the skills needed to be good at netball with Coach Tom.

Have a great weekend.
