What a lovely week! We have tried to get outside as much as possible to make the most of the sunshine!

In English, our learning came together and we planned and wrote our own fantasy stories. We had a long list of tools to try and use throughout the stories. At the end, we used book-on-book editing and worked together to try and improve our writing. Next week, we move on to writing instructions. In Maths, we have focused on ratios and scaling. The children were brilliant at both of these and used their learning to solve lots of different ratio problems.

In Science this week, we were learning about how blood travels around the body – we found out it uses blood vessels and there are two types. After finding out about veins and arteries, we used wool to recreate them and show what direction the blood flows. In PSHE, we discussed how to make friends and what friendship looks like. In RE, we continued our learning about the 5 pillars of Islam – we focused on how the 5 pillars strengthen the Muslim Ummah. History was all about the battles the Vikings had with the kingdom of Wessex and how King Alfred and his brother tried to stop them. In the end, they bribed the Vikings to not attack any more. In PE this week we practised our catching and targeting skills in dodgeball. We played some games of On the Bench, which was a mash-up of dodgeball and bench ball with dodgeball rules. In rounders we developed our bowling skills – making sure we threw between the knees and the shoulders. In DT, we learned about Micro Bits and had a go at using CAD software to program a Micro Bit as a traffic data logger! We now have an online classroom on Tinkercad.com that the children can access with our classroom code: 2AF Q2B B8F and their personal login code. They can show you the code they wrote and run a simulation so you can see how they programmed their Micro Bit.

Enjoy your bank holiday weekend.
