What a wet week!

We have been very busy recapping previous tools and knowledge (expanded noun phrases, adverbials of place and manner, subordinating conjunctions and past tense) to help us to write amazing narratives next week. We also practised our editing skills by making additions to a text. In Maths, our division journey started. To begin with, we tackled short division and worked hard to use our times tables to support our learning. After we mastered this, we used collaborative learning to perfect the long division methods. We worked well together; being very supportive and encouraging. Next week, we are going to attempt questions independently.

In Geography, we focused on physical features of a mountain, facts about the 4 main mountains in the United Kingdom and what it was like on Mount Everest. We labelled maps, labelled diagrams and completed some research. We put this research into a paragraph of information (some of us even used brackets!) In RE, we thought about rites of passage in different religions, focussing on Hinduism and how they welcome new babies. We found out about Mundan ceremonies and what happens to the child during them.  For Science, we experienced using newton metres for the first time. We discovered what they measure and how they work. After that, we used them to measure the force needed to lift objects around the classroom. Next week, they will support us in our investigation.

PSHE was all about role models – what they are and how we can show we are a good role model. We had some mature discussions and started to make a list of ideas. Next week, we will talk about how we can put this into practice. In Computing, we used digital software to create pie charts. Forest School let the children build dens, create items using things in nature and work collaboratively. In cricket, our focus was to throw the ball accurately; we played lots of games to help us practice. It was a great lesson.
