What a lovely last week to the term!

We have been busy writing formal CV’s as Beowulf; we were applying for the job of slayer of Grendel. In Maths, our focus was decimals and their place value. In Science, we finished our forces unit by exploring water resistance. We analysed some data and drew our own conclusions. In Geography, we recapped volcanoes and then made some using paper, tape and plastic bottles. Using bicarbonate soda, vinegar and fairy liquid to create a reaction, our volcanoes erupted! In Art, we started our final piece – water colour painting a volcano in the style of William Turner. We have made a good start and the reflections look really effective. Our last cricket lesson was so much fun – we played a full game to practice all our skills from the unit. We had our final forest school session this week and Mhairi brought in all the equipment we'd need to make fires! We worked together to split kindling, use fire steels to light our tinder and then try to get the flames to catch. It was a bit windy, so it was harder than we anticipated! Once we'd had a go, Mhairi helped to set a larger fire and provided apple slices, lemon and blood orange juice, sugar and cinnamon sugar to drip them in, and toasting forks to cook the apples over the fire. It was very much appreciated! We've had so much fun exploring and building and creating over this term and owe a big thank you to Mhairi and Caroline for leading our forest school sessions! For children’s mental health week, we thought about when we feel happy and when we feel safe. The children were keen to share their thoughts and complete the sentences.

Have a lovely half term.
