What an amazing first full week back!
Red Kites have been very busy in English. We have spent the whole week exploring persuasive speeches and today we have written our speeches to persuade the school that we would be great leaders. The language devices and vocabulary that they used was amazing. We were very proud and very impressed. Now all we have to do is share them with the school. Maths has all been about place value of numbers. We have used place value charts, part-whole models, counters and partitioning to learn all about digits and what they are worth. The children have worked incredibly hard exploring numbers up to 10,000,000!
In Geography, we have looked at the South-East of England with a focus of human and physical features. We were able to place Windsor Castle, Brighton Pier and Blenheim Palace on our map. Next week, we will find out about the South of Greece and start to compare the two places. In RE, we have been thinking about Holy Week and the different events that occurred leading up to and after the crucifixion of Jesus. The children used the IPads to research an event and then create informative posters about the different events.
In Computing, we are exploring quizzes and our focus this week was: What makes a good quiz? We had lots of discussion and worked together to mind map what we thought. At the end of the lesson we completed a quiz, but we found out that it was not easy because the questions were written badly, the multiple choice answers didn't match the question and some of the questions were just too hard. For the rest of the unit, we will try and make our own quizzes that are user friendly.
And finally... we are trying to encourage reading for pleasure. We were able to capture this moment at break time in the sun.
Have a great weekend.
