Welcome back to a new school term. We hope that you all had an enjoyable Easter holiday. We can't believe that it is the summer term already!
We have had a very busy first week back and the children have worked very hard. We have started off with our new focus book in literacy. For the next few weeks our writing will be linked with the story of Cinderella. This week we read the story and the children did lots of work around vocabulary. We started off by finding out what the words meant, matching the words with their definitions. The children then went on to write sentences containing these new words. We had words such as weak, escape, embarrassed, elegant and jealous.
In maths we have had a focus on the two times table. We have looked at multiplication and division facts linked with this times table. The children are becoming more and more confident with their times tables facts so thank you for all your support helping the children to learn their tables.
In science we have been thinking about life cycles. We wanted to find out if all life cycles are the same. We discovered that for some animals, they hatch from an egg and for other animals the mother gives birth to them.
Art was great fun this week. Our focus for this term is "sculpture". This week the children looked at some pictures of sculptures and had to work out what they thought the sculptures were. We thought one of them which was lots of traffic lights looked like a Christmas tree! The children then went on to build their own sculptures out of lego. Their friends then had to guess what they had built! Have look at our sculptures below. What do you think the sculptures are? We had a tree covered in snow, dinosaurs in dinosaur land and even Father Christmas!
After such a busy week, filled with so many examples of perseverance within Kingfishers, from never giving up during our work to not only just taking part in our Daily Mile but exceeding our Daily Mile on both Thursday and Friday!

We would love to hear about the different ways you continue to keep healthy when your not at school!
In RE this term we are continuing to learn about Judaism and today we focused on developing our understanding of Synagogues, exploring what they looked like on the outside and then delving inside and exploring the different features inside!
We learnt that inside a Synagogue there are...
- A Bimah where the Torah is read from
- The Siddur, a book with prayers inside
- The Eternal light, which represent that God is always with us
- Torah Scrolls that is read in Hebrew
- Memorial boards where people's names are written who have died in English and Hebrew
- The Ark, a cupboard where The Torah scrolls are kept
Wow, that's a lot of really special features to remember but we were fantastic at labelling our very own Synagogue!
We can't believe the first week of our Summer Term has already flown by!
We hope that the sun continues to shine, have a wonderful weekend making memories together and we look forward to seeing you all about on Monday morning!
