We have made it to the end of term! Where has that term gone? We have definitely lived life in all its fullness! This week has been just like all the other weeks this term - full of opportunities for the children.
On Monday we had our last lesson of forest school for this academic year. As usual Year 1 and Year 2 had lots of fun! They enjoyed swinging on a tree swing, having lots of imaginative play and the children were able to make prints on fabric using a hammer and a leaf.
After half term Year 1 and Year 2 will be back to having P.E. as usual on a Monday. Please send your child / children in wearing their P.E. kit on the first Monday back after the holidays.
In maths Year 2 have continued to think about grouping and sharing, linking this with division. Over the holidays can we please encourage you to access TT Rockstars and go over your children's times tables, focussing on the 2, 5 and 10 times tables. Your child should know how to log on. If you are unable to log on, please just go over these tables so that your child becomes more fluent in recalling their facts. For example, if we know 2 times 5 equals 10, then we know 10 divided by 5 equals 2.
In our spelling lessons, Year 2 have been thinking about the possessive apostrophe. This shows when something belongs to somebody. For example, Katie's coat. The apostrophe "s" shows that the coat belongs to Katie. The children in Year 2 have also written some beautiful poems about being different and unique.
In design and technology we were able to finish making our cars. The children put all the parts of their cars together - the axles and wheels, the chassis and the body of the car. They worked very hard and it was lovely to see them helping each other if they were stuck. The children then went on to evaluate their cars. They thought about what went well, what was difficult and what they would do next time to improve their car. The glue didn't work very well when making the body of the car and the chassis so we had to use masking tape. Have a look at what they made!
It was Thursday before we knew it was time for us to 'publish' the wonderful poems that we had written, celebrating just how unique and different we all are! Look out for our spectacular poems that will be coming home very soon!
The day was going almost as fast as the wind was blowing outside! We could hardly believe that it when Coach Tom was ready on the field to teach us some more football skills, although this week we were also ready to put these football skills to the test ad play together in some matches!
As we 'hopped' closer to the end of term it was time to create our Easter cards and both Year 1 and 2 blew our socks off by recalling the Easter story and showing a superb understanding of why we eat Easter eggs at Easter! They then only needed to be shown once how to make a tricky chicky card, with their cards even better than ours!
We hope you enjoy them this Easter!
The Easter fun certainly didn't stop there though, because on Friday we had a very special visitor! One minute we were busy writing our Easter cards and the next minute we got called out with our very special Easter baskets (make by a very special Mrs Bell!)....but who should be waiting for me......it was of course the.......
Easter bunny!!!!!!!
We could hardly believe our eyes! Not only was the Easter bunny here but we were also going on an egg hunt! We had it look over things, we had to look under things, we even looked through things!
Just look at how much fun we had!
What a fantastic end to Term 4!
Have a lovely Easter holidays, full of Easter egg hunts and making some wonderful holiday memories together!
We can't wait to hear all about them when we see you at the beginning of the Summer Term!
